Port Mansfield, located in the
Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, has the most pristine Marine and Wildlife
environment on the Texas coast. Being bordered by thick, virtually untouched,
lightly populated brushland, Port
Mansfield and the close surrounding area offers an unmatched variety of wildlife
for your viewing and enjoyment.
Wildlife
such as the White Tailed Deer, Javelin, Feral Hogs, Coyotes, and Turkey can be
seen walking among the homes and businesses located in the Port.
Many local residents and businesses maintain feeders in their yards to
assure a safe and abundance of wildlife for theirs and visitors viewing
pleasure.
Port Mansfield and the Lower Rio
Grand Valley boasts some 487 different species of birds, This diverse variety
makes ours one of the Premier Birding Spots in the United States.
Many of these birds can be seen up close and very personal in and around the
Port. Additional viewing opportunities to view these beautiful birds in their
natural setting is available via water transportation.

The Lower Rio Grand Valley has
several major Refuges and Sanctuaries such as the Laguna Atascosa Wildlife
Refuge, Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge, Sabal Palms Sanctuary, Bentsen State Park and
the newly opened El Sal Del Rey (SALT LAKE) which has an interesting history.
All these are a short drive from the Port, there is shuttle service to these
areas if needed.
